Complete guide from registration to managing your lending business

1. Getting Started

1.1 Creating Your Account

Follow these steps to register your lending business on LoanDesk:

Visit the Registration Page

Go to the LoanDesk website and click on "Start Free Trial" or "Get Started".

Choose Your Plan

Select the subscription plan that best fits your business needs. You can start with a smaller plan and upgrade later.

Fill in Your Business Details

Complete the registration form with your business information:

  • Company Name - Your registered business name
  • Company ID - A unique identifier for your account
  • Contact Email - Primary email for notifications
  • Contact Phone - Your business phone number

Create Admin Account

Set up your administrator account with a secure password (minimum 8 characters).

Select Payment Method

Choose your preferred mobile money provider:

MTN Mobile Money
Airtel Money
Zamtel Kwacha

1.2 Completing Payment

After submitting your registration, you'll be directed to the payment checkout page.

Review Order Summary

Verify your selected plan and total amount.

Initiate Payment

Click "Pay Now" to send a payment request to your mobile phone.

Approve on Your Phone

You will receive a USSD prompt on your mobile phone. Enter your mobile money PIN to confirm the payment.

Payment Confirmed!

Once payment is confirmed, you'll receive your login credentials. Save them securely!

1.3 First Login

Go to Login Page

Navigate to the LoanDesk login page.

Enter Credentials

Enter your Company ID, username, and password.

Access Your Dashboard

After successful login, you'll be taken to your dashboard where you can start managing your lending business.

2. Dashboard Overview

The dashboard provides a quick overview of your lending business at a glance.

Section Description
Summary Cards Quick stats showing total borrowers, active loans, collections, and overdue amounts
Recent Activity Latest transactions and activities in your account
Upcoming Payments Loans with payments due soon
Overdue Loans Loans that require immediate attention
Quick Actions Shortcuts to common tasks like adding borrowers or creating loans

3. Managing Borrowers

3.1 Adding a New Borrower

Before creating a loan, you need to add the borrower to your system.

Navigate to Borrowers

Click on "Borrowers" in the sidebar menu, then click "Add Borrower".

Enter Personal Information

Fill in the borrower's details:

  • Full Name
  • National ID/NRC
  • Phone Number
  • Email (optional)
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender

Save Borrower

Click "Save Borrower" to add them to your system.

3.2 Viewing Borrower Details

Click on a borrower's name to see their full profile including:

  • Personal information
  • Contact details
  • Loan history
  • Payment history
  • Total borrowed and outstanding balance

4. Managing Loans

4.1 Creating a New Loan

Navigate to Loans

Click on "Loans" in the sidebar, then click "New Loan".

Select Borrower

Choose the borrower for this loan from the dropdown list.

Enter Loan Details

Fill in the loan information:

Field Description
Principal Amount The amount being borrowed (e.g., K5,000)
Interest Rate Annual or monthly interest rate (e.g., 15%)
Interest Type Flat rate or reducing balance
Loan Term Duration in months (e.g., 6 months)
Repayment Frequency Monthly, weekly, bi-weekly, etc.

Review & Create

Review the loan summary and click "Create Loan" to finalize.

4.2 Understanding Loan Status

Loans progress through different statuses:

Pending Not yet approved
Approved Awaiting disbursement
Active Payments in progress
Completed Fully paid
Overdue Payments past due
Defaulted Marked as default

5. Recording Payments

Open Loan Details

Navigate to the specific loan you want to record payment for.

Click "Record Payment"

Click the "Record Payment" or "Add Payment" button.

Enter Payment Details

Fill in the payment information:

  • Payment Date - When the payment was received
  • Amount - The amount paid
  • Payment Method - Cash, Bank Transfer, Mobile Money, Cheque
  • Receipt Number - Your receipt/reference number
  • Notes - Any additional notes

Save Payment

Click "Save Payment" to record the transaction. The loan balance will update automatically.

Tip

You can also record payments from the Payments menu in the sidebar for quicker access.

6. Reports & Analytics

Access detailed reports to understand your business performance. Navigate to "Reports" in the sidebar menu.

Loan Portfolio Report

Overview of all loans and their current status.

Collections Report

Summary of payments received over a period.

Overdue Report

List of all overdue loans requiring attention.

Borrower Report

Analysis of borrower demographics and patterns.

Exporting Reports

Click "Export" on any report to download in Excel or PDF format.

7. Settings & Configuration

7.1 Company Settings

Customize your company profile and branding including:

  • Company name and logo
  • Contact information
  • Business address

7.2 Loan Settings

Configure default loan parameters:

Setting Description
Default Interest Rate Pre-filled interest rate for new loans
Default Loan Term Pre-filled loan duration
Interest Calculation Flat rate or reducing balance
Late Payment Penalty Penalty percentage for overdue payments
Grace Period Days before a payment is considered overdue

7.3 User Management

Add team members and set their roles:

  • Admin - Full access to all features
  • Manager - Can manage loans and borrowers
  • Staff - Limited access based on permissions

8. Upgrading Your Plan

As your business grows, you may need to upgrade to a higher plan for more users, borrowers, or loans.

Navigate to Upgrade

Click on "Upgrade" in the sidebar or go to Settings > Subscription.

Compare Plans

Review available plans and their features to choose the best fit.

Complete Payment

Select your new plan and complete the mobile money payment.

Instant Activation

Your new plan limits are applied immediately after payment confirmation.

Common Issues

Cannot Login
  • Verify your Company ID is correct
  • Check username and password
  • Try password reset if needed
  • Clear browser cache and try again
Payment Not Reflecting
  • Check the loan details page
  • Verify payment was saved successfully
  • Refresh the page
  • Contact support if issue persists
Loan Calculations Seem Wrong
  • Verify interest type (flat vs reducing balance)
  • Check loan term settings
  • Review the payment schedule
  • Confirm interest rate is entered correctly
